Sherman L. Stacey
Sherman L. Stacey is Founding Partner of Gaines & Stacey LLP Newport Office. The firm, which has offices in both Newport Beach and Encino, California, provides counsel and services to property owners, real estate developers, governmental agencies, community groups and individuals related to real estate and general business issues.
Mr. Stacey concentrates his practice on the governmental regulation of land use. Mr. Stacey has Conducted more than 1,500 hearings before the California Coastal Commission and has appeared before dozens of State and local administrative agencies regarding the adoption of land use plans and permits. In, addition, Mr. Stacey has often acted as transactional counsel on purchases, sales and financing of real property development and ownership.
Mr. Stacey was raised Riverside, California. He obtained his B.A. degree from University of Southern California, where he studied International Relations. Mr. Stacey received his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law in 1974. Prior to his partnership at Gaines & Stacey LLP, Mr. Stacey was a sole practitioner in Santa Monica, California.
Mr. Stacey is a member in good standing of the State Bar of California and Utah State Bar. Mr. Stacey is admitted to practice before various Federal Courts including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal, and the United States District Courts for the Central, Northern and Southern Districts of California. He is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
Mr. Stacey resides on Balboa Island in The Newport Harbor with his wife Nanci. He is an avid sailor and member of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club.
