
Biography
Lisa A. Weinberg is a Partner of Gaines & Stacey LLP, a San Fernando Valley based law firm which specializes in land use, zoning, environmental law, related litigation and political advocacy. She is the Chair of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. The firm, which has offices in Woodland Hills and Costa Mesa, California, provides counsel and services to property owners, real estate developers, governmental agencies, community groups and individuals related to real estate and general business issues.
Ms. Weinberg is a veteran litigator, representing plaintiffs and defendants in writ of mandate, contract, real estate and land use disputes. She advises clients in pre-litigation matters and represents them in alternative dispute resolution when mediation or arbitration are the best courses of action. She has taken dozens of cases to trial and is an accomplished appellate lawyer having successfully argued cases in state and federal courts of appeal.
Ms. Weinberg’s primary emphasis has been in entitlement, environmental, title and boundary disputes. She represents property owners, tenants, landlords, buyers, sellers and brokers in matters concerning zoning and land use, easements, boundary lines, leases, purchase and sale agreements, and commissions. She has brought litigation to enforce housing rights and has extensive experience defending projects’ compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”). She has many years of experience dealing with the California Coastal Commission on permitting and enforcement matters, as well.
A California native, Ms. Weinberg was raised in the San Fernando Valley. She obtained her B.A. degree from Brown University. During her college years, she also studied in London. Ms. Weinberg received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 1987. Prior to her partnership at Gaines & Stacey LLP, Ms. Weinberg was an attorney with a large, well-known Century City real estate firm.
Ms. Weinberg is a member in good standing of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before various Federal Courts including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal and the United States District Courts for the Central, Northern and Southern Districts of California.
Ms. Weinberg resides in Tarzana, California with her husband Greg. They have three adult sons, Joey, Max and Sam, and an adorable mutt named Cooper. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Independent Living Center of Southern California and is an active member of Valley Beth Shalom Synagogue. In her free time, she enjoys attending the theater and concerts, reading fiction, travel, and walking her dog. She has recently taken up sewing.
